I'l have to respectfully disagree on this. It seems to me that Jesus did not mean be like him. That would be salvation through works. What he clearly meant by the statement "by him", when it is taken in the context of the rest of the New Testament, is that we must accept his grace which is freely given. Now while we must admit that all things are possible through grace and God can save anyone he wants to ( like young children) and it is understandable that we want to believe that everyone will get to heaven, telling people it does not matter wether or not they accept Christ is a disservice to them and I would suggest it is a grave sin. In fact if sins can be rated I would rate this as the worst. By saying you must believe that Christ is the Son of God who died for our sins and that you must accept his grace in order to be saved is not us deciding who gets into heaven. It is saying what God has told us. It is repeating the message that God has commanded his people to spread. It is a message of hope and love. A message that all who hear it are free to reject because God has given us free will. However we can never say the choice does not matter.

Great story Chris. I was very touched by the letter she gave you on your last day with her. It is addressed to Mom, and says the following (I am not editing this):

Dear Mrs. Zaccaria,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your husband. You are a wonderful human being. I have never had the privilege of meeting you, but I know you are a special person. You have managed to raise such a caring son. Chris often talks about what a wonderful cook you are. So I would like to know the secret recipe for making such a wonderful human being! Chris is a joy to know and is full of life.

Chris has the talent and the ability to up lift and empower others through teaching. He is very humble, and you can tell he comes from a good family. He is a very kind, giving and thoughtful person. Not to mention, that he is also both intelligent and talented. He is so young, and could be doing a million things with his time, yet he chooses to give up some of his time to help others. In a time when parents are wondering what they did wrong! You and your husband can say, I did something right!

Thank you and God bless you and your husband,

Maria and family

What a wonderful testimonial. It is truly a great feeling and blessing when you "touch" someone's life. This is something that gives me great joy in my profession (medicine). There is nothing that has a greater impact than knowing that you made a difference in someone's life. God works in many ways, and has certainly worked through Christopher, as evident by this experience.
