Congregational Care

“Don’t just pretend to love others.  Really love them.
Rejoice in our confident hope.  Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.

When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them.
Always be eager to practice hospitality”
Romans 12: 9, 12-13

As Christians, we are called to be involved in the ministry of caring for others.  We care for our family, friends, members of our church family, and for others who we don’t even know.  Through prayer, visitation, and getting involved in different types of care giving, we can help others as Christ taught us to.  Below are some of the opportunities for prayer and other forms of care giving that are available at Colts Neck Reformed Church.

Prayer Chain
  • Praying for specific prayer requests from members of the church community.
  • If you would like to add someone’s name to the prayer chain, please visit the Prayer Chain page. (please note: when you click on this link, a text box will open. Type your message and click the "send" button to send your message directly to Dianne. If you open the text box accidentally, hit the 'back' arrow/button at the top of the page to return to the Congregational Care page)
  • If you would like to be a part of the email prayer chain, contact Dianne O'Hara, Congregational Care Coordinator.
  • Prayers are typically listed in our bulletin for three consecutive weeks.

Providing meals
  • Volunteers prepare meals at home and deliver them to church members in need.  Meals are provided when there is a birth, hospitalization or death in the family.

Funeral Receptions
  • Volunteers organize, set up and provide food and refreshment for a funeral reception held in Fellowship Hall following a service at the church.

Transportation
  • Transportation is provided by volunteers to members of our congregation who may need a ride to worship services or medical appointments.

Flowers
  • Church members provide flower arrangements for our Sanctuary each Sunday.  On Monday or Tuesday mornings the flowers from the previous Sunday that are not taken home by the provider, are delivered by volunteers to a church member who is hospitalized, homebound or in a nursing home to remind them that their church family is thinking of and praying for them.  They look forward to visits and are very grateful for our members who stop by from time to time.  To order flowers you will find the sign up sheets hanging on the bulletin board outside the kitchen in Fellowship Hall. The cost is $15.00.  If you’d like to be an occasional ‘flower deliverer’, please contact Dianne O'Hara.

Coffee Hour
  • Coffee Hour is a time of fellowship to meet and greet your friends and neighbors.  Coffee hour is held every Sunday morning between 10:15-11:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.  Volunteers are needed to provide and set up light refreshments.  Sign up sheets are hanging on the bulletin board outside of the kitchen in Fellowship Hall.

Medical Equipment
  • The church has accumulated a varied supply of medical equipment that may be borrowed for a period of time following surgery or an accident.   The available equipment includes wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, raised toilet seats and shower seats.  If you’d like to borrow something, please contact Dianne O'Hara.

Weed-a-Week
  • Along with the beautiful spring weather come the weeds.  Church members volunteer an hour or so of their time each week to help keep the church grounds clear of weeds and looking beautiful.

Photography
  • If you like to take pictures and you will be attending a church function, this is the perfect job for you.  You can use the church camera or use you own camera, take some photos and email them to the church or drop off the disc and we will display them on our bulletin board.

Interested in Church Membership?
  • Attend a “Pizza with the Pastors” which is usually held 4 times a year on a Sunday following the 11:00 a.m. service. This is a chance to have an informal meet and greet with our ministers where you can learn more about the beliefs and ministries of the Colts Neck Reformed Church.  It is open to recent visitors and frequent guests who are ready to join the church or who just want to learn more about us.
  • Our ministers are also available to meet one on one as well, to answer any questions or to to talk more in depth about our church.
  • To welcome those ready to join, volunteers organize, prepare and serve a meal in Fellowship Hall for new members and their families.

If you would like more information or you would like to sign up for any of the volunteer jobs listed above, please contact Dianne O'Hara at 732-462-4555, ext. 12.
