Memorial Fund
What is the Memorial Fund?
This is a fund that holds monetary gifts given in memory (or sometimes, in honor) of someone. This is where the "please make a donation to the Colts Neck Reformed Church in lieu of flowers" checks are deposited.Donations to the Memorial Fund are given from a wide variety of people, typically in the range of $25 - $150. What are these monies used for?
This fund typically provides benefits in the areas of worship or sanctuary enhancement. Past uses have included children's choir robes, new hymnals, sound system needs, and an electronic keyboard/synthesizer. Once a gift is given to the Memorial Fund, funds are dispersed by Consistory action. That means that no one can say, "I've decided what the church can do with the money given in memory of my mother."
How do I give to this fund?
Simply send in the check to the church office, noting the person that you are memorializing or honoring. If we are not likely to have their family's address, please include that as well. The family is then notified that a gift was given by you (not the amount). You are also sent a note indicating that your gift was received. A record of gifts (again, not amounts) is kept in a permanent book that may be viewed by congregational members.
Like the Endowment Fund, the Memorial Fund is another way you can make a difference in the life of our church.
