As Christians, we are called to be involved in the ministry of caring for others. We care for our family, friends, members of our church family, and for others who we don’t even know. Through prayer, visitation, and getting involved in different types of care giving, we can help others as Christ taught us to.
“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality”
Romans 12:9, 12-13
Prayer Chain Email
We pray for specific prayer requests from members of the church community.
Do you need prayers for yourself or do know someone else who needs prayers? If you would like to be a part of the email Prayer Chain, contact Sandy Freeman. Be sure you have received permission from the person to add his or her name and information to our prayer chain. Prayers are typically listed in our bulletin announcements for three consecutive weeks. Long term prayer requests are listed in our newsletter, The Reformed Informer.
Fellowship
Fellowship at the Colts Neck Reformed Church often develops spontaneously, yet other times it is enhanced through specific programs and events.
Our Sunday morning Coffee Fellowship (September through early June) or summertime Patio Refreshment after the 9:30 a.m. worship service (early June through Labor Day). A time of coffee and fellowship is held every Sunday morning, between the 9:30 a.m. worship service and the 11:00 a.m. Discovery sessions, in Fellowship Hall, located upstairs in the brick Community Center. It is a time of fellowship to meet and greet your friends and neighbors.
Volunteers are needed to provide and set up light refreshments. Coffee, tea, and lemonade, along with all the paper products, are provided by the church. Volunteers bake or purchase finger foods—just enough for a light snack; nothing large, fancy, or elaborate is expected. A sign-up QR code is located on the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall (or you can sign up at the link below.
Additional fellowship opportunities are available throughout the year. Adults also have times to get together, sometimes “on campus,” other times at a home, a restaurant, a Broadway show or other gathering place. A quilting group, a bowling team, and book discussion groups are some of the small-group opportunities for friendship connections. We also have several all-church, inter-generational times of fellowship; for example – the September kick-off picnic, the festivities of the Election Day events, or attending a ball-game. Check our current happenings page for fellowship opportunities.
All are invited to participate in caring, supporting, laughing and drawing ever closer in the love of God!
Meal Ministry
Volunteers prepare meals at home and deliver them to church members in need. Meals are provided when there is a birth, hospitalization, or death in the family.
Volunteers will organize, set up, and provide food and refreshments for a funeral reception held in our Fellowship Hall, following a service at the church.
We are always looking for new volunteers to add to our teams. Please contact Sandy Freeman if you would like more information or wish to be added to a group.
Inquirers Classes
Attend an “Inquirers Class,” usually held two-three times each year. This is a chance to have an informal “meet and greet” with our ministers where you can learn more about the beliefs and ministries of the Colts Neck Reformed Church and The Reformed Church in America. This class welcomes recent visitors and frequent guests who are ready to join the church or who just want to learn more about us.
Our ministers are also available to meet “one-on-one” as well, to answer any questions or to talk more in depth about our church. Email Sandy Freeman for more information.
Care Ministry Team
Our trained volunteers encourage and provide emotional and spiritual support to people who are home-bound, ill, going through a challenging time or live event, or just in need of someone to talk to. A member of our care team will meet with your privately and confidentially to listen, encourage, and support you.
When you are going through a challenging time it’s nice to have a caring Christian who will listen, encourage, and pray with you and for you. We are not problem solvers, therapists, or counselors; just lay people who have an interest in helping others.
If you would like someone from our care team to visit you, or you’d like to join our care team, please contact Sandy Freeman.
